This week is the 10th National Apprenticeship Week which aims to bring together employers and apprentices from across England to celebrate the success of apprenticeships over the last decade and encourage even more people to choose apprenticeships as a fast-track to a great career.
Since 2010, nearly three million people have started an apprenticeship in the UK, including more than 4000 in the Devizes Constituency. The Government has ambitious plans to deliver two million more apprenticeships in the next three years, and apprenticeships now available in 1500 job roles, covering more than 170 industries, there are more options to “earn while you learn” than ever.
Claire Perry hired Georgia Mundy as an apprentice for her Devizes office in 2015 and Georgia has now taken up a full-time job working for Claire in Westminster.
Commenting on the occasion, Claire said:
“University is not the only way to get into a great job, and with more apprenticeships on offer than ever, there are huge opportunities to “earn while you learn” across the country. As a local employer I was determined to do my bit to promote apprenticeships, and Georgia has been a brilliant addition to the team and has now secured a full-time job in my Westminster office. I will continue to support apprenticeships locally and will shortly be looking for another apprentice to join my team in the Constituency.”
Georgia Mundy said:
“I’ve learnt so much working in Claire’s Office, and every day is incredibly interesting. The support to complete my apprenticeship from Wiltshire College has been great and I would wholeheartedly recommend the apprenticeship route to other school leavers. I’ve also been really lucky to meet lots of famous people!”
